At one point, most photographers are presented with an opportunity to work with a nude model, but only very few are really prepared for such projects. Even experienced photographers often admit that they don’t know what it takes to capture a truly artistic, provocative, erotic, yet still tasteful nude portrait.

Nude and boudoir photo sessions are part of my daily work. These are usually privately commissioned photo sessions, with models that, in many cases, have never posed nude in their life. And that, of course, is the biggest challenge – how do we, in a limited time, relax the model so she opens up and poses well? How do we portray only the complementary angles? Where is the fine line that separates artistic nudes from ordinary nude snapshots? Where is the fine line between erotic and vulgar style? Over the years I have learned quite a few secrets for taking a great looking nude and boudoir portraits – and in this Nude Photography Workshop I will share some of this knowledge with you.

We will work with a beautiful model, who has  some experience with nude photosessions, however, not a professional model. We will learn a number of poses, light schemes and rules that will help you achieve great looking nude portraits. The shoot will take place in an actual bedroom.

Each student will work one-on-one with a model for a certain time, then allowing other students to practice. Sets will be changed and we will continue the rotation in similar manner. In order to have an efficient educational experience, anyone who wants to shoot in parallel, will only be able to do so from behind the designated shooter.

We will try to stick to available light as much as possible, as it creates a much better overall boudoir ambiance. However, we will have studio lighting equipment in case there is an opportunity to use it for some scenarios.

It will be a 5 hour workshop.

Official model release will be provided. You will be able to use all pictures from this masterclass in your portfolio.

Refreshments and light snacks will be available.

For this workshop you will need:

  • DLSR camera
  • 35mm and 50mm lens or a zoom in that range. (Fast lens that allows 2.8 aperture or lower is preferable, as for some scenes light might be limited)
  • Sufficient storage space, (last thing you want is to run out of memory)

Due to a private nature of this masterclass, location will be disclosed only to registered participants a few weeks before the masterclass.

Duration – 5 hours. Fee – $200.  Class maximum size 9 students.

Next Nude and Boudoir Photography Workshop is on February 21, 2015. 10 AM – 3 PM.
